This power nozzle is a replacement. However, if you put a replacement power head/nozzle next to an original you wouldn't be able to tell which was which. It uses the same motor that Rexair uses, Ametek Lamb.

There is one difference that I know from experience that makes the purchase of the replacement power nozzle the wiser choice. The original roller brush had a plastic beater bar attached to it. It's purpose was to "beat" the carpet to stir up dust.

However, after a few months use the plastic beater bar always developed nicks and cuts in it which then caused it to start "grabbing" threads of your carpet and pulling them out. Ouch!

Go look at your beater bar and you'll see all the nicks in the plastic.

The roller bar used in this power nozzle has no beater bar to pull the threads out of you carpet. Therefore, it has twice as many brush fibers to gently brush your carpet without damaging it.

Remember, original Rainbow Power Nozzles are not manufactured any more.
